Booking Appointments
Appointments can be booked online, by telephone or by email.
Appointments are subject to consultant availability.
Patients should arrive approximately 10 minutes before their appointment to complete any necessary documentation.
If you arrive late, your consultation may need to be shortened or rescheduled to avoid delays for other patients.
Fees and Payment
Consultation fees, investigation costs and procedure charges will be explained before treatment wherever possible.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is required at the time of your appointment.
Additional investigations, laboratory tests, imaging or procedures recommended during your consultation may incur separate charges.
Any outstanding balances remain payable in accordance with our payment terms.
Private Medical Insurance
If you are using private medical insurance, it remains your responsibility to:
- obtain any required authorisation;
- confirm your policy covers the planned consultation or treatment;
- settle any fees not covered by your insurer.
Whilst we will submit claims to your insurer where applicable, any policy excess, shortfall, co-payment, non-covered treatment, or charges declined by your insurer remain the responsibility of the patient and are payable directly to Midlands Women’s Health upon request.
Failure to settle any outstanding balance may result in further appointments or treatment being postponed until payment has been received.
Midlands Women’s Health cannot guarantee reimbursement from your insurer.
Cancellations and Missed Appointments
Patients may cancel or rearrange their appointment at any time before their scheduled appointment.
However, if an appointment is missed without prior notice, or if a patient fails to attend at the agreed appointment time, Midlands Women’s Health reserves the right to charge the full consultation fee or an appropriate cancellation fee.
Cancellation charges are applied to reflect the consultant’s reserved clinical time and the impact of missed appointments on other patients requiring access to care.
Where exceptional circumstances exist, any cancellation or non-attendance fees will be considered at the discretion of Midlands Women’s Health.
Procedures Unable to be Completed
Whilst every effort will be made to complete your planned investigation or procedure, there may be occasions where your Consultant determines that it is not clinically appropriate or safe to continue.
Examples include:
- unexpected clinical findings;
- patient discomfort or intolerance;
- safety concerns;
- anatomical factors;
- unforeseen medical circumstances.
Where a consultation and clinical assessment have been undertaken, the consultation fee will remain payable, even if the planned procedure cannot be completed.
Procedure fees will only apply for treatment or services actually provided unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Clinical Decision Making
All investigations, treatments and procedures are undertaken solely at the Consultant’s professional discretion.
Following assessment, your Consultant may advise:
- an alternative treatment;
- further investigations;
- referral to another specialist;
- that a requested procedure is not clinically appropriate.
Consultation fees remain payable where professional assessment and clinical advice have been provided.
Consent
No investigation or procedure will be performed without your informed consent.
Your Consultant will discuss:
- the diagnosis;
- treatment options;
- expected benefits;
- potential risks;
- possible complications;
- reasonable alternatives.
You are free to ask questions and may withdraw your consent at any stage before treatment.
Medical Information
Patients must provide accurate and complete medical information including:
- current medications;
- allergies;
- previous operations;
- relevant medical history;
- pregnancy status where applicable.
Failure to provide accurate information may affect the safety and suitability of treatment.
Diagnostic Tests and Results
Diagnostic investigations may include ultrasound imaging, blood tests, Endosure testing, hysteroscopy and other investigations where clinically appropriate.
Some laboratory investigations are processed by external accredited laboratories.
Results are reviewed by your Consultant before being communicated to you.
Some results may require a follow-up consultation to discuss treatment options.
Prescriptions
Prescriptions are issued entirely at the Consultant’s clinical discretion.
Repeat prescriptions may require a review appointment.
Prescription charges may apply where appropriate.
Chaperones
Midlands Women’s Health supports the use of trained chaperones.
Patients may request a chaperone for any consultation or examination.
A clinician may also request that a chaperone is present where considered appropriate.
